I have managed to leave the country after a long spell of exploring absence! It was an easy trip, effectively two weekend breaks merged together, beginning in Riga, Latvia and a connecting bus trip to Vilnius, Lithuania. No surprises. Cheap prices in Riga – cinema ticket £2.50. The accommodation process is so impersonal now, all expecting being present online with a roaming data connection in the country of interest, and rooms controlled by key safes with combination locks. Both cities are walkable and allow the simple pleasures of stopping for a coffee or ice-cream and looking at historical buildings and galleries. A first step to re-discover the joy of unstructured budget travel with little prepared itinerary for a quick city break
